π Do you know what to do when you see blue lights behind you?
Here are some tips for when you do: If you see blue lights or hear sirens approaching stay calm, continue driving at a safe speed look for somewhere safe to pull to the left and stop. Do not stop if it is not safe to do so, keep going if you are approaching the brow of a hill or a corner. Keep off Kerbs and Pavements and donβt stop near traffic islands. Signal your intentions β Use indicators to show other drivers and emergency vehicles what you are doing. Do not stop in the middle of the road- this could create an obstruction. Do not break suddenly - this can surprise other drivers and make it harder for emergency vehicles to pass. If you are at a red light, do not proceed through, the emergency vehicle will move around you! Check your mirrors and blind spots and be aware of other road users, including pedestrians and cyclists. Emergency vehicles come in all shapes and sizes. If you stop to let one pass, make sure there is a large enough gap.
β Keep in mind there may be more than one emergency vehicle coming. For more advice: https://www.bluelightaware.org.uk/ |
